Today was the second day of the Kids’ Gospel programme at Chapel of Adoration. We were encouraged to see that that children were a lot more willing to get involved and interact with the team. The kids have been very receptive and now know four of the songs for Saturday’s concert.
Over the past day Elaine has been suffering from a sore throat following Yotsukaido and so has been taking a well deserved rest to recover. She taught some of the songs this morning but is now starting to lose her voice so we pray that she will recover from this quickly and resume her natural role. In the meantime Louise has been doing a stellar job teaching the songs and we are thankful that we have team members capable of stepping into different positions as required.
As David mentioned in his previous post his hearing has fully recovered. This keeps the number of concurrent maladies to a minimum once again. Thanks to all who were praying for him.
Tomorrow afternoon we will commence our home-stays with families from Chapel of Adoration. We would like people to pray that communication would not be a barrier and that we will not offend the families who are opening their homes to us. We pray, therefore, for cultural awareness (particularly David F, who is prone to wearing toilet slippers around the house
)
Could you please continue to pray also for Julie, Suzie and Rachel as they prepare for their mini concert tomorrow with the little kids’ gospel. Please pray that the kids will sing enthusiastically as best as they can and that their parents will come to see them.
Best regards
Stuart and Julie

Hi again,
Julie we got the text message and email and it has been two days now since we emailed Suzanne. Is everything alright?
Dad
XOXO
Please tell David McK I have sent him an e-mail.
Hi all,
Glad to hear David’s good news. A wonderful answer to prayer. Haven’t we a faithful Lord and Saviour Who hears and answers even before we ask.
Sorry to learn of Elaine’s difficulty now in not being able to sing; we will be remembering her in our prayers. Great that Louise can stand in the gap!
I can’t remember when I have ever seen such happy looking children as the little ones you are leading and teaching each day. Remember they have such pure minds and what you will be teaching them will be received never to be forgotten. What a privilege you have now to reach them for the Lord in all that you are doing. Their little faces during the craft session and when learning the songs tells how anxious they are to learn.
Hope all goes well, Rachel Julie and Suzie, for the Thursday morning session when the families are with the children.
May the home stays work out as happily as when you were in Yotkusaida, and, remember girls, be careful when riding the bicycles.
May you all know the peace of God as you lie down to rest.
Nite Nite N a P x

Dear Team,
As I read through the blog this morning, I am reminded of the party game where people sit in a line and the first person whispers something to the second person. This person passes the message to the third, and so on. The problem is that the message must be whispered so quietly that the next person along cannot hear, and you can give the message only once. The fun comes at the end when the last person speaks the massage aloud – and it bears no resemblance to the original message. It all comes down to pronunciation and hearing.
You in the team are doing something similar – only it’s not a game.
Your team is the still, small, voice in the racket of a major, world class, city, and in many ways you have only one chance to get your message across. Those who listen to you will need to hear you clearly, understand the words, interpret the sentances, and translate the concepts into their own context.
No pressure.
So – when you find yourself in the company of someone, whith whom you cannot communicate – you will say something, even when you say nothing. When you play with the children, who obviously enjoy it, you speak volumes, and when you support each other, you show God’s love in action.
I’m sure that by this time at least one or two, but probably everyone, feels that they have failed in something of other. That may,or may not, be a correct perception. But you are not there to successful – just faithful.
That’s why we at home have a duty, and obligation, to support you in prayer; and a need to support each other – going of the hints, from parents, about concerns for health and wellbeing that show through on the blog.
I hope that you get the time and opportunity to get some relaxation, and enjoy your hosts company over the next few days.
Look after each other!
Sorry about the somber note today. I didn’t set out to write it this way – it just came out.
Team Dad
Hi team. It can’t possibly be Friday again already! This week seems to have passed so quickly. Hope all is going well for concert and church services at the weekend.
Busy day at Ardrigh Arfy. Got two rooms painted for Granny and had a few wee laughs with the brothers. Auntie J n I were just thinking of how excited we would be this time next week. Wonder why that is??? Look out for a couple of eejits doing star jumps on the roof of Ikea next Friday evening…or should we leave dad and Uncle Tony at home LOL!
Enjoy today. Looking forward to the post. Love, Angela xxx
Hi,
Home stays nearly over!!!!!! Hope and pray they went well.
Did the little kids mini concert go ok. No doubt it was hard to get the smaller kids to do their best but I’m sure their parents were delighted. Hope they appreciated the hard work that goes in to this and all the work you all are doing.
No doubt there will be a lot more photos and a new report when you get back. Hope Elaines voice has returned and she back to normal.
Thinking and praying for you all.
LOL to J+S
God bless
XOXO
Davy
Dear all,
Looking forward to the next blog.
I hope that Elaine is getting the opportunity to rest her voice and recover from this infection. And, from what I hear, Louise is doing a great job in keeping the music etc. going.
Pete tells us that his host took an afternoon off work to be with stuart and him. I remember that Grahan did ‘A day in the life of a worker in Japan’ on one of his visits home. bearing in mind the longer working hours, and fewer holidays; taking an afternoon off, means significantly more in Japan, than at home. I hope that everyone else is enjoying their home stays.
And – are the cyclists still OK! How have they coped with the traffic?
Over the weeks, there has been a feeling that parents care and concern have developed past their own children to cover the rest of the team (yes, even Dave F – or perhaps especially Dave F). I have signed off at times as Team Dad, but, of course, I’m only one of several (and I don’t just mean ‘He who had a significant birthday’). It’s something that we’re all happy to do (just so long as Dave F doesn’t come home and start calling us ‘Dad’).
Well, bye for now, hope the remaining children’s work goes well and I’m sure that you’re looking forward to next weeks rest and recuperation.
Team Dad (or, at least, one of them).
